Derek Hatton being interviewed at the AAC arena in left-wing British politician, Derek Hatton, pictured in his home city of Liverpool. Hatton is a former politician, broadcaster, property developer, businessman and after-dinner speaker. He gained national prominence as a local politician in Liverpool during the 1980s, where he was Deputy Leader of the City Council, and a member of the Trotskyist Militant group which brought him into conflict with the Labour Party and the then Conservative government of Margaret Thatcher.
