The adult Trichina magnified is shown in Fig. 39- The sexually mature male Trichina, accord-ing to Cobbold, is about one-eighteenth of aninch long, while the adult female is one-eighth ;the body is rounded and slender, and the headvery narrow and sharply pointed. The modeof reproduction is viviparous. The muscularparasite, when introduced into the alimentaryFig. 39- canal of man or animal, is set free in the process of digestion, and in two days time reaches the adult.
