The demand in and around this city the past season has been very satisfactory, showing a very pro- nounced increase in the volume of busi- ness done this season over the preced- ing year. As yet the war has not ap- parently led to any decrease in the sale of cut flowers and plants; if anything, the back yard planting, which was so thoroughly carried out the past season all over the country, seemed to have a tendency to increase the demand for plants. NOTES. Very little building is being done in this vicinity this summer, due to the sky-high prices of all material used in greenhouse construction. The office of the Good & Reese Com- pany, which was damaged by Are has been remodeled and repainted, making it look as good as new. J. M. Good and F. B. Good and their families have gone to their summer in northern Michigan to spend several weeks. C. A. Schaefer and family have re- turned from a two weeks' vacation the lake in Michigan. L. L. R.
