If placed at the centre of the Solar System, for example, the largest red supergiant stars would easily reach beyond the orbit of Jupiter and even Saturn. These stars are created when massive stars reach the end of hydrogen in their cores and swell up as a result of changes in internal chemistry, pressures and temperatures.
