French Gratitude Train Maine


The French Gratitude Train arrived in the USA on the Magellan on the 3rd February 1949. It was an expression of thanks to the USA for their support during the Second World War (WW2) the USA. It consisted of 49 wagons, each filled with gifts, and one wagon was distributed to each of the 48 contiguous states, with the 49th shared between Hawaii and DC. This is the wagon presented to the state of Maine.
