The image shows the cruiser North Carolina arriving at Hoboken, with troops on January 6, 1919. Among the troops were the 113th Ammunition Train and four Casual companies of Marines, including 583 men from the 5th and 6th Regiments. The Marines received decorations from the French Government. The Major's Committee of Welcome and the Police Band greeted them, and cigarettes and newspapers were thrown aboard from the Patrol. Photographer: George H. Lyon.
