Ottoman wall or wall of time - Turkey, 16th-19th Century Louvre Museum Paris France French
tiles formed a plinth receiving patterns of false marble or bouquets of flowers (1 to 4). Above were large panels (5 to 11) on several registers. They consisted of tiles repeating the same pattern to infinity or forming a unified composition under an arcature. The color of the border usually contrasted with that of the central field. The wall was crowned with an inscription banner or a banner of florets (12). This same composition is found from the 16th to the 19th century, which the arrangement presented here wants to evoke. This set is a pure recreation.
