Wind turbines at Lichtenau-Asseln windpark, North Rhine Westphalia Germany, Europes largest inland wind farm.

40% of the entire world's wind power is produced in Germany, here at the Lichtenau-Asseln Windpark there are 62 turbines producing 36 Megawatts of electricity. The clean energy the windpark produces will cut 50,000 tons of CO2. Planning for the 380 hectar site began in 1995 and was completed in May 1998 at a total investment of 34 million euros.
