A martyr, in Bavaria called Marterl is a roadside shrine. Here it is located in a very old lime tree trunk in Bavaria, Germany, Europe.

A „marterl „ is a testimony of the Christian faith. That's how it was then and that's still how it is today. In earlier times, the hat was humbly pulled or a kink was made while passing by. Even today, many believers show their awe for a martyr by making a sign of the cross or taking the time for a Lord's Father.
