Stanley, president ani general manager of theEvening Herald Co., was born February 12th, 1859, in VestaLBroome county, N. It was onlyby supreme effort that he was able to satisfy his longing forknowledge. He was obliged to work early and late, and there-fore found little time to cultivate his mind. He was by turnsa newsboy, a man-of-all-work, a school teacher, a railroad brake-man, and then a newspapt-r man. He has tried his hand, andsuccessfully too, at all parts of the newspaper work, and i< just-ly accounted as being a far-seeing business man, of honestmethods. He is an indefatigable worker. The success he hasacheived in building up the Herald is proof positive that he isthe possessor of qualifications which bring success.
