Charles Morrison Pickering's certificate of qualification to apply for land,. Charles Morrison Pickering was a Brisbane tram driver who joined the Australian Imperial Force on 28 August 1914. He served as a gunner and driver with 7th Battery, 3rd Field Artillery Brigade, rising to the rank of Staff Sergeant in 1917. He returned to Australia in September 1918 and was discharged in June 1919. He became one of the first soldier settlers at The Gap and and became a dairy farmer.
