The Canal Saint-Martin is a km long waterway in Paris, connecting the Canal de l'Ourcq to the river Seine. In 1802 Napoleon ordered the construction in order to supply a route for bringing in food, fresh water, and other goods to Paris. It was completed in 1825. Mid-19th century, half its length was covered, (between the Rue du Faubourg du Temple and the Place de la Bastille), to enable the Boulevards Jules Ferry and Richard-Lenoir as a part of baron Hausmann’s city planning. The canal was used as an escape for Ethan Hunt and his team in the 2018 film Mission Impossible - Fallout.
