Erythrasma, LM
Light micrograph (LM) showing unidentified bacterial organisms present in a direct smear harvested from an erythrasma located between a patient's toes, on the toe web. Gram staining technique; magnification unknown. Erythrasma is a skin disorder usually involving areas of the skin where one finds skin-to-skin contact, , intertriginous regions. It begins as a spreading, reddish rash, which turns a brownish color, then dries, causing the sloughing of flaking skin.
