The Second World War 1939 - 1945- the War in the Far East 1941 - 1945 Royal Air Force aircraft attack bridges on the Burma-Siam railway. British and Commonwealth forces halted the Japanese advance at the Burma-India frontier in 1942, but the campaign to drive them back out of South-East Asia was one of the hardest fought of the war. The use of air power was a critical factor in achieving Allied victory.
