The ore body is situated at the contact of lime-silicaterocks with quartz-diorite, which is the northward extension of the beltforming the footwall of the Defiance ore deposit. The most interestingfeature of the Independence ore body is the fact that the galena and itsalteration products are in a garnet gangue.
