Andy Capp was a cartoon character appearing in the Daily Mirror newspaper over many years. His creator was Reginald Smyth, alias Reg Smythe, who came from Hartlepool. This bronze statue was made by the Shropshire based sculptor Jane Robbins and is located within the Headland area of Hartlepool.
