'JB', John Balfour, 1st Baron Kinross, Scottish lawyer and politician, 1899. A Liberal MP for Clackmannan and Kinross from 1880-1899, Balfour (1837-1905) held the offices of Solicitor General for Scotland (1880-1881), Lord Advocate (1881-1885, 1886, 1892-1895) and Lord Justice General (1899-1905). He was raised to the peerage in 1902. A print from Vanity Fair, April 13th 1899.
