I must here remark, that I have only given one specimenof the inscription on each style of brick ; but there are endlessvarieties, as the millions of scattered fragments show, and whichmight be an interesting pursuit for any future traveller whohad leisure for the object, to examine, and duly copy theresult. The most general colour of the Babylonian brick re-sembles those of a pale yellow from the English kilns ; but inalmost all instances it is infinitely harder than any I ever tried inEurope.
