Catalog 13: Carrier air washers and humidifiers: applied to public office and industrial buildings, with notes on humidity . Removed Showing EliminatorsPosition effectively than a 90 degree angle ordinarily used with spacingof 4 to 6 inches. The resistance in an eliminator depends more upon theangle through which the air is baffled, and the eddy currentsset up thereby, than upon the surface friction. In fact theresistance of the same amount of surface is so small that itwould be very difficult to measure. The resistance of this washer is- less than .25 inch watergauge at the rated capacities.

Eliminator Flooding z The flooding of the eliminatorsis done by an independent set of nozzles across the top. Thesenozzles distribute the water over the washing surface uni-formly. The flooding is used continuously but provision ismade for shutting off atomizing sprays in summer on veryhumid days. When the atomizing sprays are shut off, theincrease in the humidity is so small that it practically amountsto nil This is a feature possessed only by this and our TypeB Washers. 28 Carrier Air Conditioning Company of America. Side View of Eliminators Showing Flooding Nozzles Washing Surf ace: The eliminators are so arrangedthat the first four corrugations are kept constantly floodedwith a sheet of water which catches any solid matter, notalready precipitated by the first set of sprays, and washes itto the settling tank. The wet surface exposed to the air thusobtained amounts to sq. ft. of washing surface per 1000cubic feet of air per minute, counting only the side of thecorrugation against which the air impinges.
