We have examined 30 speci- mens in all, including the holotype (MCZ 38252) of the species, with all but five of these originating in the Furcy area. We are thus hampered in comparing these Furcy snakes with topotypical material from the east in the La Hotte, but for the moment there is no choice but to accept the agreement of the Montague Noire material with that from the La Hotte (admittedly an unlikely possibility, vide infra).
