Lt. Gen. Joseph T. Guastella Jr., Commander of Air Forces Central Command (AFCENT), speaks to attendees during the AFCENT change of command ceremony at Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar, Aug. 30. Guastella entered the Air Force in 1987 as a graduate of the Air Force Academy. He’s flown the F-16 Fighting Falcon and A-10 Thunderbolt II, served multiple combat tours and instructed at the Air Force Fighter Weapons School. He is a command pilot and has accumulated more than 4,000 flying hours, including 1,000 combat hours in the F-16C/D and the A-10C.
