Andrews, both comefrom homes more than five miles from the church. During Dr. Brainerds day the Sunday-School be-came a powerful factor in the life of the church. Thenthe church was surrounded by many workers, therewere young people without number, and they all livedin the neighborhood. The power of Dr. Brainerd overthe young of the church, and the remarkable energyand activity in Christian work of the young men whomhe had raised, has been mentioned elsewhere in thishistory. These young men, and, indeed, many youngwomen, were endowed with a true missionary held cottage prayer-meetings, they assisted inthe meetings in the open market places that Dr. Brain-erd addressed with such power and blessed being
