SS Texaco Saigon - the Aft Accommodation. The ship was originally built for the government as a T2 Tanker (the tanker equivalent of the ‘Liberty Ship’) in Mobile, Alabama in 1945 and named SS Chicaca. Renamed Caltex Saigon in 1952. In 1967 she was lengthened, the accommodation was moved from midships to aft and in 1968 she became SS Texaco Saigon. Propulsion was from the original 1945 electric motor driven by electricity from steam turbines. Photo from 1970 or early 1971.
