The name plate at Somerset Maugham's house on Cap Ferrat, Cote d'Zure. This was a symbol which appeared on all his books

W Somerset Maugham bought La Mauresque in 1926 and lived there until he died in 1965. The gatepost shows his personal talisman, the mystical Moorish sign thought to represent the hand of Fatima warding off the evil eye. This symbol appeared on all his books.
