The past season was not nearly so good as that of 1903, as in that year I had 37 colonies in the spring, increased to 87 colonies, and se- cured 4310-X pounds of comb honey. I put the bees into the cellar in good condition. Last winter I left 15 colonies out- of-doors as I had not room for them in the cellar. I lost 1 out of the 15, 1 in the cellar, and 5 from spring dwindling. I use the 10- frame dovetailed hives. My plan in wintering is to nail the bottoms on the hives, leaving a % entrance. I keep the dead bees away from the entrance with a wire hook, and the cellar is as dry as a powder-house. We have the bees, vegetables, etc., all in the same cellar, and I keep the thermometer as near to 45 degrees as I can. It has been very dry here for two months, but we had 5J4 inches of snow on the 11th, which I think will be a help to white clover. I
