STOCK DOCTOR There are certain conditions, however, which should be insistedupon in all cases. In the first place, the house should be locatedUpon soil which is well drained and dry. A gravelly knoll isbest, but failing this, the site should be raised by the use of theplow or scraper until there is a gentle slope in all directionssuflScient to prevent any standing water even at the wettest Construction of Roosts A few inches of sand or gravel on the surface will be very usefulin preventing the formation of mud. Such abuilding may be easily fitted for poultry by cutting a small doorin one side and placing roosts and nests in the interior.
