This very useful and beautiful class, while not equal to the single in brilliancy, lasts much longer in bloom. The earlier varieties, such as Due Van Thol, Tourne- sol and Murillo, are excellent for forcing. Many of the other varieties make a fine display when grown in pots, but they require to be forced slowly. The latter sorts, such as La Candeur, Rex Rubrorum, Yellow Rose, etc., are very effective in beds or borders, pro- ducing dense masses of bloom of most brilliant colors, which remain in perfection a long time.
