SEVENTEEN YEARS AFTER An echo of the Exposition is found in an address made by Thomas Nelson Pagein December, 1910, before the convention of the American Civic Association inWashington, D. C. He characterized the White City of the Worlds ColumbianExposition as the real beginning and the inspiration for a new era of art andarchitecture in this country.
