A fine wheellock rifle, German, end of the 17th century. Octagonal, lightly swamped barrel with an eight-groove rifled bore in 14 mm calibre, dovetailed brass front sight, an adjustable, cut rear sight, and worn floral engraving on the breech. Wheellock (chain incomplete) with floral and figure engravings. Hair trigger. Fruit wood full stock, richly inlaid with bone and mother-of-pearl. Engraved bone nose cap (minor damage and repairs).
