The new store of Mclntyre Bros, is filled to overflowing for the holiday trade and they are getting their share of it, too. Their window is one of the prettiest I have seen for a long time. Haury & Sons are still doing busi- ness at thei' new stand. Their Sunburst roses are fine. They are doing a bet- ter business right along. They need more store space to accommodate their growing business. P. B. CINCINNATI. The Gateway to the South. Last week showed a supply of flowers that was only medium in size and a supply of greens that was almost too large. The southern ferneries have been rushing plumosus and Sprengeri into the market at a merry rate; in fact, they have been shipping it in so fast that the market could hardly ab- sorb it. In many cases the wholesalers had to direct their consignors to "let down" somewhat until further orders. The way the cut stock has come into the market for the last few days shows that nearly all growers are trying to "hunch" a little on the retailers, so that when the big day comes they will be well fortified with at least a two days' cut in one. This holding back is all right if the flowers are still good and solid, but if, on the other hand, they come in soft, it has defeated its purpose for them. They can hardly be used by the conscientious retailer, who has the welfare of his trade at heart. All that can be said of
