This baby chimp is not letting go of mum ZeeZee anytime soon CHESTER ZOO, ENGLAND ADORABLE IMAGES show a baby chimp clinging to mum while taking advantage of a piggy back ride. Images from Chester Zoo show the sweet baby chimp seems completely zen while clinging to mum and practising their eating skills, which have not quite yet been mastered. Mother ZeeZee welcomed her baby boy into a 22 strong troop and helped this critically endangered species grow. As few as just 18,000 Western chimpanzees remain across Africa and it is the first subspecies of chimpanzee to ever be declared Critically Endangered by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN). Small populations of the Western chimpanzee are still found ranging from Senegal to Ghana in West Africa, sadly they have become extinct in Benin, Burkina Faso and Togo. These images were captured by photographer Gary Cox (52) from Manchester UK in Chester Zoo, UK. ?This is one of my favourite photos of the baby chimp riding on his mum's back,? said Gary. ?The little chimp deserves his own spotlight. He is full of mischief and fun like all babies but this day he was so calm and curious, it was a pleasure to capture. ?He is gripping so tight to mum ZeeZee he is definitely not falling off any time soon. ?She is definitely a safe place for her baby and he knows it. ?It is just such a cute moment and people seem to love ENDS
