Keyser The employes of the Baltimore and Ohio atKeyser showed their patriotism in fine stylewhen, on April 5, they subscribed for and raisedan American flag to open the Third LibertyLoan campaign. Governor Cornwell andBrigadier General Heiner, of Camp Lee, werepresent and made stirring speeches. Betweenthe passenger and freight stations is a largelawn known as Community Park and in thecenter a tall flag staff was erected. The flagwhich formerly had flown from the staff wasdirty and wind-whipped and, through the effortsof Harry B. Kight and O. S. W. Fazenbaker, itwas replaccd by a new MASTER MECHANICS FORCE, KEYSER, W. VA. Governor Cornwell, in true American style, paid a beautiful tribute to the emblem andimpressed upon his auditors the fact that we athome should buy bonds in order to back up theboys who have left our shores to meet the Hunon the battle-torn fields of France. Weshould give up our money to help the heroeswho are willing to give up their lives, was thegist of the Governors address. General Heiner, in a short address, referredto the boys in khaki from the vicinity of Keyserand who are now at Camp Lee. He spoke ofthe men in eulogistic terms. About one thousand school children, allcarrying small American flags, were there andadded to the patriotic spirit which pervadedthe atmosphere. Mcllwees band furnishedthe music, and their patriotic airs were stirring.
