Rock Hyrax (Procavia capensis). Namibia
The rock hyrax is a terrestrial mammal resembling a guinea pig with a stumpy tail and small ears. They are found across Africa and the Middle East and inhabit rock crevices into which they escape from predators. They live in groups and forage in morning and evening. They make use of of sentries where one animal takes up a vantage point position and warns others of the approach of predators. They are also commonly known as a Dassie.
