Wismar, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany - MV Werften Wismar-Rostock-Stralsund. The cruise shipyard still employs about 700 people, compared to 1300 before the shipbuilding crisis, making it one of Wismar's largest employers. Among the newly built facilities in Wismar is the covered building dock, whose hall is 72 m high, 155 m wide and over 395 m long. Since March 2016, the shipyard has belonged to the Malaysian-Chinese shipping company Genting Hong Kong. Genting founded the new MV Werften, which will in future comprise the Wismar, Warnemuende and Stralsund sites with a current combined workforce of just over 1,700. The shipyard group filed for insolvency in January 2022 and as a result the yard was sold to Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems in June 2022.
