To lessen the breakageof the sliver as it is drawn from the cans, an auxiliary lifting roll isprovided at the back of the machine. The machine may be fitted with either direct weighted or SelfBalanced Rails as preferred. It is fitted, if desired, with case-hardened front steel rolls, shell front top rolls, self-oiling steps, andsheet steel gear casings. As will be noted in the illustrations onthe two preceding pages, the driving pulley arbor is supported bya yoke which insures freedom from vibration and ease of operation.
