Within two years from the passing of the Act, the five farmshad been selected, the necessary officers appointed, most of thebuildings erected and the Farms put into practical operationalong the lines laid down. THE CENTRAL FARM. At Ottawa, the Central Farm, as its name implies, in additionto carrying on those extensive varietal and cultural experimentsinaugurated at all the Farms, has served as the headquarters ofthe Director and the technical and administrative staff under 10 DOMINION EXPERIMENTAL FARMS. From here the work of the branch Farms is guidedand supervised, although the Superintendents of the latter areallowed a free hand to work out the problems peculiar to theirdistricts. Lines of Work. Publications. The publication and dissemination of the results obtainedfrom the experimental work conducted at all the farms hasnaturally been one of the most important features.
