Byzantine mosaic in the apse of the Basilica of Sant'Apollinare in Classe near Ravenna, Italy. The Transfiguration of Jesus Christ on Mount Tabor seen in the upper part of the asps with Jesus shown as a cross over the disc. At the side of the disc are the figures of Elijah and Moses. The three lambs in the lower sector symbolize the Saints Peter, James and John who attended the Transfiguration of Jesus. In the lowest part of the mosaic is the figure of Saint Apollinaris praying in a green valley for his faithful, symbolized by twelve white lambs.
