Inle Lake is a fascinating part of Myanmar where life is lived on the water. Food is grown on floating gardens, fishermen take fish from the lake to eat using a unique leg rowing technique, houses sit on stilts over the water , children paddle to schools on the lake, and there is a thriving craft culture and Buddhist religious culture. As well, ethnic peoples from the hills, as well as the local people, come to markets on the lake (seen here).
