This scene of sculptor's studio is in the tomb of Rekhmire (Rakhmiri), a noble and official who lived at Thebes.
A sculptor's studio and Egyptian painters at work drawn by Faucher-Dudin, from a chromolithograph by Prisse d'Avenbes, Histoire de l'Art Egyptien. The original is in the tomb of Rekhmire (Rakhmiri), a noble and official who lived at Thebes under the 18th Dynasty. The methods which were used did not differ from those employed by the sculptors and painters of the Memphite Period more than 2,000 years previously. The tomb is located at Sheikh Abd el-Qurna on the West Bank at ancient Thebes (present-day Luxor).
