Volcanic Projectile Bomb - 'Bread-crust' Type

These 'Bread-crust' bombs have a fractured surface but retain their shape. They form when the exterior cools and solidifies while the interior remains molten. On impact the surface fractures and as cooling of the volcanic bomb continues the gases in the interior expand causing further fracturing.
