Cornelius Matthysen was in New Amsterdam as early as date of August 12, 1658, he brought suit against CorneliusJanzen, a woodsawyer, demanding the sum of fl. balance asappears by account exhibited in Court. Janzen was angered anddenied that he owed so much. He accused Matthysen of beinga thief, saying he stole a crow-bar from the General and sold itto little Abramje; moreover, advised him to steal his timber fromthe General and sell it; offering to prove it.
