The market conditions have not varied greatly in the last two weeks. The demand was about equal to the supply in nearly all lines. The only items that were plentiful were lilies, white carnations and freesias. Colored stock remains scarce. Due to dark weather, sweet peas have been in light supply, but the number of them has been increasing, and for St. Valentine's day these and violets were the principal flowers in demand. There were also a few orchids on the market, which sold well. There is a large quantity of bulbous stock on the market. Tulips, hyacinths and freesias are plentiful, although daffodils are still scarce. Through cooperative advertising, St. Valentine's day was pushed and brought good results. Most of the greenhouse men are now preparing their Easter stock, so as to have it in shape, although it appears that stock is a little backward this year. Even with the mild weather we have had, lilies are making slow prog- ress. Various Notes. Baumgarten, Inc., has just received a large amount of bric-a-brac, vases and ornamental pottery from Europe, which were collected by Mrs. Baumgarten while abroad last summer. The firm had a beautiful window display for St. Val- entine's day, containing a great variety of valentine novelties. J. M. Fox, Inc., had a large display of St. Valentine novelties.
