A hunting air rifle, German, circa 1740. Octagonal barrel merging to round with a smooth bore in mm calibre. Dovetailed sights, engraved scroll ornamentation at the breech end of the barrel. A fake flintlock with an engraved brass lock plate. Walnut full stock. Finely engraved brass furniture showing game and hunter in ornamental cartouches. The butt plate has a hidden, spring-loaded opening for the air reservoir concealed in the butt stock. Wooden ramrod with horn tip.
