The sisters, both Flight Lieutenants, Eileen and Kathleen, are dental surgeons in Flying and Technical Training commands respectively. Kathleen was the second women to join the Dental Service while Eileen was commissioned a short time after their brother, Group Captain Victor Beamish, was reported missing, presumed killed, on operations. Two other brothers are Group Captain Charles Beamish and Squadron Leader Cecil Beamish, who is the only member of the family stationed abroad. He is a Dental Surgeon in Irak. It is thought that this whole family service in the is a record for Northern Ireland, if not for the rest of the United Kingdom.
