Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite launch, 2018. SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launching from Space Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida, USA, carrying NASA's Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS). This satellite is NASA's next step in the search for planets outside the solar system, also known as exoplanets. Lift-off took place at 18:51 local time. TESS was placed in a highly elliptical lunar resonant orbit (P/2) to carry out its all-sky survey. Photographed on 18 April 2018.
