'Up at the O2'- High level walkway over the Millenium Dome, London, United Kingdom. Architect: Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners,

Up at the O2, as the dome’s new walkway has been branded, is the latest attraction to open at the Millennium Dome, ‘Up at the O2’ Designed by the original Millennium Dome concept team of Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners and Buro Happold, and built by ISG with Base Structures, the walkway forms a tensile spine in a straight line across the 350m equator of the O2, deftly suspended from a minimal number of new cables. With it’s taught skin of PVC membranes stretched between a multitude of wires, sprockets and nodes, the structure employs the high tech language of its host to great effect. It is as close to the original intention of walking on the roof of the dome itself (impossible due to wear and tear of the fabric), an exhilarating journey through the cat’s cradle of cables and soaring masts.
