The trees left of shot are part of the Slopes Park and Pleasure Grounds. The Quadrant is the street centre background, the Cavendish Arcade on the left side and houses with ground floor shops on the right. The 5th and 6th Dukes of Devonshire turned Buxton into a spa town to rival Bath.
