Ljiiiibcrt Podorson is planting two houses in mums in preparation for the fall trade. All indications point to a good summer business. Felix Rosaia handled the decorations for several social functions last week, using summer flowers and greens prin- cipally. Among the local florists who made the trip to Portland for the tri-city howling match and rose tournament were Williiim Desmond, Samuel Dun- lap, B. E. Hammond, A. B. Matthiesen, Carl Melby and James Wylie. Probably no single grower is offering a larger variety of flowers on the mar- ket at the i)resent time than Thomas Wj'lie, and some of the more uncom- mon varieties from his fields are attract- ing trade attention. The fine quality of flowers shown in the windows of the Hollywood Gardens attracted general attention from the large number of visitors who passed through Seattle on their way to and from the Shrine conclave in San Fran- cisco. Wedding decorations, both for the home and church, have been show- ing some increase. Ren a E. Wilber, a local rose fancier, has introduced a new rose, known as Radium, this being a cross of two pink varieties to give a large bloom of old rose shade. It promises to be a good garden variety. The Orpheum Floral Co. secured a large number of orders for the gr.'idua- tion exercises of the downtown city hos- pitals. The City Flower Shop notes that the
