The Tate Modern art gallery,located on the south side of the River Thames opposite St Paules cathedral, and converted from the old Bankside generating power station, and opened in 2000 .The power station was a controversial design by Sir Giles Gilbert -Scott and built between1947 and 1963 using over million bricks
