From Quft, the ancient Koptos, toKossair, the little seaport town, there runs thegreat highroad of ancient days, along which theEgyptians travelled who were engaged in theEastern trade. It happened by chance that thisroute led through the Wady Fowakhieh in whichthe famous quarries were situated ; and in thelast chapter I have recorded an expedition madeto that place in 1907.
